Using ZanonMail with Apple Mail, Thunderbird and Outlook

The web client is JMAP. External clients, if you want them, use IMAPS 993 and SMTPS 465 with an app password.

ZanonMail’s own site talks to the mail server over JMAP. That is the recommended path. If you still want a desktop or phone client, this deployment already listens for IMAPS on port 993 and SMTP submission on port 465, both with implicit TLS.

What we do not advertise

Plain IMAP on 143 and submission on 587 are not bound here. POP3 exists on the server but is not a product we offer. We will not turn on extra legacy protocols just to fill a comparison table.

Privacy cost

Once a message is on your laptop, ZanonMail cannot control how that application stores it, indexes it, or backs it up. That is the trade. Create an app password, follow /help/mail-clients, and revoke the password when the device is gone.
